The following structural characteristics of Ni Cr alloy are the theoretical basis for formulating alloy heat treatment process.
1) Nickel chromium alloy is austenitic solid solution alloy. The alloy can be softened by solution treatment.
2) When the chromium carbide in the nickel chromium alloy is cooled at high temperature, it will precipitate along the austenite grain boundary when the cooling speed is slow, which will reduce the plasticity and increase the strength of the alloy, which is not conducive to cold drawing. In order to improve the distribution of carbides, rapid cooling should be carried out after solution to reduce adverse effects.
3) Ni Cr alloy grains grow slowly at high temperature, and there is no high temperature brittleness. Therefore, the heating temperature and holding time are allowed to vary in a wide range during alloy heat treatment.
As nickel chromium alloy has the above structural characteristics, it has the following characteristics in the aspect of solution treatment process.
1) The solution temperature shall ensure that the chromium carbide in the alloy is fully dissolved. The effect of solution treatment is corresponding to whether the chromium carbide is completely dissolved.
2) The grain growth rate of the alloy at high temperature is slow, and it is insensitive to temperature and holding time, allowing a wide range of changes.
3) In order to make the distribution of chromium carbide reasonable, it should be cooled rapidly during solution treatment.
